An elevated view of the famous Grand Prismatic Spring in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming). This is the largest hot spring in the U.S.

On a very, very cold late afternoon in early February, I managed to climb down a steep snowy wall to the bank of the Firehole River to capture this wintery landscape photo.

The crystal-clear blue water of Sapphire Pool in the Biscuit Basin area of Yellowstone National Park has a hot tub like temperature of 200-202 degrees (F) and although relatively quiet, boils over from time to time.

A highlight of any trip to Alaska is to see Mt. McKinley, or Denali -the name given by the native Athabaskan. This photo was taken from a small single-engine airplane on a tour of the highest mountain peak in North America.

This is an image of yellowish and orangish-brown colored bacterial mats found along a run-off channel that drains Sapphire Pool located in the Biscuit Basin area of Yellowstone National Park.

On a late September day, rain appeared suddenly from the west and had me scrambling back down the Hidden Lake Trail to the comfort of the Logan Pass Visitor Center. 

Fall was in full swing as the sun set on this early October day in the Santa Fe National Forest (Pecos/La Vegas Ranger District in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains).  

The drive from Billings, Montana to Yellowstone National Park along the Bear Tooth Highway (U.S. Hwy. 212) has been called the most beautiful drive in America. There are numerous peaks in this sub-section of the Rocky Mountains that exceed 12,000' (3,700 m).

On this early Fall day as I descended from Bear Tooth Pass towards the northeast gateway to Yellowstone N.P., I was surrounded by beauty in all directions. A dirt road conveniently appeared and offered me a serene place to fully enjoy the vista and set up my tripod and camera gear. In the distance and quite prominent at about 11,700 feet is Pilot Peak.

Antelope Valley, home to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a colorful and fragrant place in the Spring. This area is Mojave Desert grassland habitat situated between the Tehachapi and San Gabriel Mountains in Northern Los Angeles County. 

The view from the rim at Bryce Point in Bryce Canyon National Park provides an exceptional view of the signature hoodoos.

In the distance, a view of Totem Pole and Yei-Bi-Chei, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park (Arizona, USA).

World-famous vistas of red rock buttes are at every turn of the 17-mile scenic drive dirt road. It is hard not to make a postcard photo here.

The ladder leads down to the Pueblo Ceremonial Room -a place where rituals were performed to insure the well-being of the Pueblo people.

Famously photographed by Ansel Adams, the mission is located south of Tuscon in the center of the centuries-old Indian settlement of the Tohono O'odham. The mission was founded in 1692 but this building was constructed later, around 1783-'97. No records of the architect, builders, craftsmen or artisans responsible for creating this Moorish-inspired church are known but most of the labor was provided by the local Indians. The mission is open to the public daily and continues to act as a community center for the Tohono O'ordham.
