Blue Water Project
CLIENT: RBC Wealth Management
BACKGROUND: The RBC Blue Water Project is a 10-year, $50 million commitment to help protect water through grants to charitable organizations around the world. This year over 24,000 RBC employees in 26 countries around the globe took part in RBC Blue Water Community Makeovers to help create awareness about urban watershed issues. In San Francisco, RBC donated $85,000 to the Golden Gate Park Conservancy on Blue Water Day. RBC employees conducted a cleanup effort on San Francisco's Ocean Beach. I was hired to shoot editorial style photos of the day's activities.
SOLUTION: This type of photography can be a challenge for a number of reasons. This event took place during the harshest light of the day and the activity unfolded over a large area. There was very little I could control aside from my camera settings. While chasing people up and down the beach I looked for images that would tell a story. In general, I want my images to work with or without a caption.
